The Wolf Creek Primary Care Network is pleased to offer educational
opportunities for persons with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). In
a series of three classes held over three weeks, participants will learn about
this condition as well as methods for self-management. The course outline is as

Lung anatomy and self-cleaning mechanism of airways.
Understanding COPD: main cause, definition, pathphysiolgy and symptoms.
Impact of COPD.
COPD Medication including Prednisone, antibiotics and oxygen.
Prevention and recognition of exacerbations.
Plan of Action and management of respiratory infections.
Management of aggravating environmental factors.
Managing shortness of breath, pursed lip breathing, body positions.
Management of stress and anxiety.
Fatigue and energy conservation principles.
Healthy life habits: sleep, sex, leisure. Home exercies and stretches.
