Exercise Classes

​All of our Exercise Classes in Lacombe are instructed by Exercise Specialist Heather Mielke. They are provided to you at no charge by the Wolf Creek Primary Care Network. If you have a family doctor in Lacombe, you have access to the programs offered by our Exercise Specialist. Call 403-782-1408 for more information or to register.

Fall Classes - LACOMBE

  • Back Strong: An exercise class for the prevention and treatment of back pain. Learn safe and effective exercises to strengthen your back and core and to increase your flexibility. This class runs for 6 weeks on Thursdays from 12-1 pm. Session One begins September 10 and Session Two begin October 29.

  • Bone Strong: For the prevention and management of osteoporosis. Improve your posture, strength, balance, and decrease your risk of falls. This class runs for 6 weeks on Thursdays from 11 am - 12 pm. Session One begins September 10 and Session Two begins October 29.

  • Urban Poling: Improve your posture, strengthen your core, and burn up to 46% MORE calories than you would walking without poles. This class runs for 6 weeks starting September 1 on Tuesdays from 1 - 2 pm.

  • Fit for Health: This is a twice weekly active exercise class for anyone living with a chronic health condition such as high blood pressure, arthritis, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, etc. The class runs for 8 weeks. Session One begins August 24 and Session Two begins October 26.

  • NEW* Fit for a Healthy Weight: This class gives you the opportunity to work with our PCN Exercise Specialist AND Dietitian. The program includes twice weekly supervised exercise sessions, individual counselling for weight management, group education sessions and follow up. Begins October 26 and runs for 8 weeks.

  • NEW* Aging Well: This is an active and functional exercise class for the elderly. Maintain independence through functional strengthening, endurance training and balance retraining. Transportation to this class is provided by Lacombe Connex Van if required. This class runs on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 am - 12 pm and it begins on September 21. *This class is partially funded by the City of Lacombe's Recreation and Culture Grant.

Fall Classes- SYLVAN LAKE

YeTing Tan, the Sylvan Lake dietitian, will be hosting a WALKING CLUB starting in September. The club will walk Mondays - Fridays 12 - 12:30 pm at Sylvan Community Centre. No pressure and no requirements - all levels welcome!
