Health Basics

Health Basics is a SIMPLE, POSITIVE, and EMPOWERING group program. It is for those who want to choose healthy living, lose weight, and become more active. Health Basics moves people to ACTION. The program teaches low tech and low cost lifestyle choices that should be accessible to everyone. These basic lifestyle choices can prevent, manage, or improve chronic health conditions such as obesity, diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, and depression. They will also support healthy aging of the brain and improve mental health.

Health Basics is FREE except for a small cost for a paper version of the participant journal ($20). A free PDF journal is available if you prefer having an electronic copy.

Who is this program for?

Health Basics is for those who want to:

  • Choose healthy living
  • Lose weight
  • Become more active
  • Maintain a healthy brain and body as they age
  • Prevent, manage, or treat chronic health conditions through positive lifestyle changes

Health Basics is for adults (18+).

Program format:

The course is 8 weeks long consisting of one 2-hour session each week.

  • How to exercise for health benefits
  • Ways to make exercise a regular part of your life
  • Nutrition guidelines
  • Food journaling
  • Hunger
  • And more…

Health Basics includes an exercise component that you will participate in each week in class so wear clothing that you are comfortable being physically active in.


To get the most out of this program, we expect you to commit to attending each session and to practicing the skills you learn throughout the week in between classes. We encourage you to participate in the discussions and bring a mindset focused on positive change.
